The Donut Man

I introduced the Donut Man to the kids this week....this brought sweet memories of my last couple of years living with all my siblings.  My mom would always have the Donut Man tapes, yes I said tapes, playing in the mini-van for my younger siblings to enjoy.  Driving the family with the Donut Man as our soundtrack for the afternoon I found myself singing to the songs just like my mom did! ( the words 'I have become my mother' flashed through my mind)

In that moment I was touched with the simple yet truthful lyrics....lyrics that I believe my mom understood so many years ago with hope that it would sink into her kids heart too.

chorus
Life without Jesus,
Is like a donut,
Like a donut,
Like a donut.
Life without Jesus is like a donut,
Coz there's a hole in the middle of my heart!

Balance, focus, and finding center in our life

In the yoga class that I have been going to the instructor continuously tells us "Focus on a point ahead to keep your balance".  Since the first time I heard her say that I was quickly reminded of Hebrews 12:2 "fix your eyes on Jesus..."   I find that concept of finding balance in finding a focal point so true in our life with Jesus.

So many things go around us, so many things that at times feel like were spinning. Yet despite this we can control it more effectively with finding that center point in our life.  In finding our center we come to see that Jesus is the center not only of the universe but yes, even our very own life. As we place ourselves in Him we then focus on Him bringing stability and peace to anything that may be spinning.  We can live balanced and focused as we keep our eyes on Jesus.

If your like me you may have asked how do we this 'keeping our eyes on Jesus'.  The Message Bible tells us to study Him:
Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we're in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever.
                                                                            Hebrews 12:2 The Messaage

As our instructor says, "we practice" how much more can we also practice what Jesus did! I am inspired to study Jesus even more in the scriptures knowing that I will continue to fix my eyes on Him bringing center and balance to my life!

Five Minute Friday: Hard Love

From  Gypsy Mama's blog with who I am linking up or should say trying something new.

  • Got five minutes? Let’s write. Let’s write in shades of real and true and unscripted.
  • Let’s just write and not worry if it’s just right or not.

  • Write for 5 minutes flat for pure unedited love of the written word.

 Go

There is always this talk about real love or true love.  However love is love, a decision we take.  This love is to be ‘hard’ love as it will withstand time and everything that comes within the first day to the end.
What do I mean? Well look at the definition

Hard =  Not easily penetrated, cut, or separated into parts; not yielding to pressure; firm; solid; compact and opposed to soft

That is the kind of love I want in my life, one that is not separated into parts or that yields to pressure.  How about having love that is firm and solid towards loving me?  Many times we have to give what we want in return but on this Good Friday we can just be who we are receiving the greatest Love ever.  By the Grace of God we have been given this kinda of hard love that resides within us so that we too can give to others.   Take a moment to not see the word hard as a gift for Jesus died for us so that He will never be separated from us!  If the pressure of the cross or death did not waiver Jesus in His love then know that nothing we do can make Him go soft in His love for us. Now that is hard love!
