Hey there, Monday!

Well here you. From time to time it is a little bitter sweet when you show up. Not for the same reasons as to why most people don't really like you, but because we just enjoyed such a great weekend.  We started with Friday night family favorite of hot dogs and movie. I know, I know hot dogs but they were turkey and grilled and just my favorite fun food.  I have come to enjoy unwinding Friday evenings with kids filling up our bed watching a movie while Bobby makes dinner.

This weekend, we enjoyed friends and family.  We had a delicious chicken Santa Fe soup that I created when I had nothing else in my pantry one evening about a year ago.  Add corn bread or tortilla chips, cheese, avocado and table of friends and you have a great evening.  Top that off we had a pumpkin bread with pumpkin buttercream and coffee.  Just delicious.

Other weekend events included driving with friends around town to look at houses.  The hope of them moving to our area was exciting.  We love them and do not get to spend much time with them yet when we do it is like no time or distance has gone by. They started Sunday with us at church, OneChapel.  We were so proud for them to come to church with us....we love our church so much! Bobby ended our weekend with a quick PTA meeting in our home.

Going to bed content with all that God has brought into our lives makes Monday actually sweet with thankfulness! It is going to be a great week....

Happy First Monday of Fall

Fall is in the air…or least on the calendar.  I love spring the most and the freshness it brings with colorful flowers.  However there is something comforting about Fall.

I do love opening my windows up and letting the cool air come through the house.  I do love the Fall scents from Bath and Body Works.  I do love the taste of warm Fall dishes and desserts.

This Saturday we are enjoying friends coming over for Fall themed dinner with my Butternut Squash soup and her Pumpkin Bread, Pumpkin cream cheese.

So even though I have not pulled out any Fall décor, like my Fall wreath, because our weather is not lining up with the calendar I am mentally getting ready….

Happy First Monday of Fall!

Divine Couch Connections

This statement stood out to me this morning from twitter:

Parent thought: Have people over to your home-show friendship.

My husband and I from day one in our marriage have lived by this...opening our home for people to come hang out.  Some of strongest friendships that we have were built sitting on our couch.  We love inviting people over for some food but really for the relationship.  I do think that this is a fantastic parent thought, as our kids learn how to become friends by how we are friends.

What do they see in our relationships?  More than anything they should see that we love, respect and cherish those around us.  It was easy for Alex to understand when we told him that he had to be friends with each classmate.  He sees the example of Bobby being a friend those around him…it’s just what is done in our family.  Furthermore as we invite friends over they learn to meet new people too adding to how to have good manners.

At this time in our life we are connecting to new friends in our church with expectation.  We know the blessings and the strength that friendships can bring.  Throughout the Bible we can see the importance of reaching out to each others through building family.  We are His family living life so why not do it together?  The buzz word we continue to hear is to really take relationships to a new level, to be intentional with each of our friendships.

So do not take it lightly to invite friends and potential friends over for a meal.  There is so much that can come from sitting at home on your couch…let us pray for divine connections right from our couch!

Five Minute Friday: If you met me

From  Gypsy Mama's blog with who I am linking up or should say trying something new.

  • Got five minutes? Let’s write. Let’s write in shades of real and true and unscripted.
    • Let’s just write and not worry if it’s just right or not.

    • Write for 5 minutes flat for pure unedited love of the written word.

    Go

If you met me I would hope that is in the right setting so that we can take some time to get past the greetings.  I am quiet and reserved at first however I can come across a bit more outgoing as I just pull it out from within.   If you met me you would be meeting me as a whole and not just a part and save later.  I am warm person who really just like to make friends with whom to share this life that I love. In me being whole I would definitely tell you about my husband and our three kiddos who are under the age of 5.  This is always a great ice breaker because it seems to loosen up the conversation as I do not look like I am married yet alone have three kids.  From here I would also ask questions and try to get to know you as I like to connect with the person I am speaking with.  One way or another you hear me say something like "I read that book before it was on the big screen" or you might hear me say "I like to organizer", "I like to blog". At times though if there is no connection then I tend to go back into my shell.  I know that we are connecting already so I would invite you to either another get together or I would just make up a reason for us hang out.  I enjoy hanging out and talking. I enjoy laughing and interacting with friends.  In meeting me you would know that I am genuinely interested in others, that I like to learn and glean from those around me and to just share and be there for my friends.  For me it is true, I just want to have friends and to be a friend.

    Stop

That was fun, to write unscripted and honestly about myself.  The next time I meet a new friend I will have this in the back of my mind tugging at my heart to really ensure that the person leaves knowing me.
